Pam Holloway

Pam Holloway is a KHi Principal and early pioneer of Knowledge Harvesting.  Pam was Knowledge Manager for Mobil R&D in the late 1990s where she discovered and applied Knowledge Harvesting.  She was so taken with the program, she left Mobil to become a part of the KHi team and from 1999-2001 worked with Larry Wilson to further develop and apply KH methods and tools.

From 1995-2002, Pam was a leader in the Knowledge Management field, speaking regularly at conferences across the globe and publishing frequently in a variety of KM and HR publications. Areas of expertise include cultural and behavioral issues associated with knowledge transfer, understanding and capturing tacit knowledge, and how to protect yourself from Brain Drain.

"Pam is one of the old-timers in this field.  She's had a lot of hands-on experience wrestling with the problems and opportunities of knowledge management and does a wonderful job helping others avoid the land mines. Pam has the ability to make knowledge management fun - not a word we use a lot in this industry."
--Verna Allee, author of The Knowledge Evolution and The Future of Knowledge

In 2002, Pam founded AboutPeople with husband Michael Lovas.  AboutPeople is a unique training and consulting firm specializing in practical business applications of cognitive and behavioral science. Holloway's focus is Human Dynamics – the cultural, generational, and individual psychological variables that are key to understanding customers, markets, organizations and employees.

In 2006, Pam rejoined Larry Wilson and KHi, blending the experience and expertise of both companies.  She writes for several industry publications and has authored and co-authored a variety of books, workbooks, and white papers.

Michael Behounek

Michael Behounek is a KHi Principal who began working with Knowledge Harvesting in 2003 as Halliburton’s Director of Knowledge Management. Michael found Knowledge Harvesting to be "the only viable, repeatable, and rapid method for capturing critical knowledge from subject matter experts." Having seen firsthand the success of the Knowledge Harvesting method, Michael enthusiastically joined the KHi team in 2006.

Having earned his MBA and Mechanical engineering degrees, Michael worked in the energy industry from 1981 through 2001. Beginning in field operations, Michael rapidly advanced to executive management, business development, and quality improvement. A life-long learner who believes in constant self-improvement, Michael focused his efforts and achieved noted success in project and change management, process re-engineering, strategy development and managing implementations. As the European Region Manager in the mid- to late-1990s, he helped lead a large business consortium for Shell that led to a record $32 million a year savings and which received the Shell Q Award. Later, as Director of Quality Management for Halliburton, he led an effort to reduce the costs resulting from poor-quality issues which resulted in a $10 million per year savings.

In 2001 Halliburton asked Michael to assemble a Knowledge Management team. Benchmarking and careful study of over 80 companies fueled rapid implementation and success. The team earned numerous awards in Knowledge Management collaboration, including APQC's Best Practice for measuring the impact of Knowledge Management.

Seeing the tremendous potential in Knowledge Management projects, Michael started the consulting company Emerja in 2005.  Emerja's focus is helping organizations design and implement knowledge management and process improvement programs, including selection of tools and leveraging IT infrastructure. Emerja and KHi partner in delivering knowledge harvesting services and programs.
